Registration ICNYP Conference 2008

Greetings,

Recently the Qatar Youth Authority and the International Council on National Youth Policy (ICNYP) agreed to collaborate on a major youth conference in Doha in November, 2008 entitled - 'Turning Policy into Action – learning from a decade of experiences in national youth policy formulation, implementation and evaluation'.

Given that it is 10 years since the First International Meeting of Ministers of Youth in Lisbon where the importance of integrated national youth policies was strongly endorsed, we believe it is timely to reflect on the experiences and lessons of the last decade. Thus, this Conference will have the following two objectives –

1. Provide an opportunity for international dialoguing and networking about best practice processes, experiences and tools in youth policy and action plan development.
2. Showcase the unique achievements of the State of Qatar in youth development.

Presenters and workshop facilitators are currently being identified and invited. A more detailed program will be available mid August. The Conference Program will enable an in-depth focus on each key phase of formulation, implementation and monitoring and evaluation. A special feature of the Program will be discussions on youth-led actions led by a series of young people who have made a significant difference in countries and communities. Significant time in the Program will also be allocated to discovering and experiencing youth development innovation and the cultural life of Qatar.

The Qatar Youth Authority has very generously agreed to fund all program, accommodation, social and meal costs associated with this Conference. The only costs to delegates will be their travel and entry visa .

The Qatar Youth Authority has provided a budget for 150 delegates. We are expecting participation from over 40 countries. Maximum participation from each country or international organisation will be limited to four persons. We are hoping that over 50% of participants will be in the 15 – 30 year age group, who are active in community and nation building. Other participants will include officials from national and international government and non government agencies, with a strong commitment to innovative policy and program development.
